A brief description of the institution’s sustainability projects fund:

The University of Oregon's Energy Revolving Fund supports energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects at University of Oregon. Anybody can submit a proposal at any time.

$50,000 is made available annually. Intent is to grow the fund over time to $1 million. Unspent funds roll over. funds are made available in the form of zero interest loans. Calculations (or estimates) of savings from funded projects guide the repayment schedule.


A brief description of the multi-stakeholder decision-making process used to determine which projects receive funding through the sustainability projects fund:

Projects must demonstrate a payback period of 5 years or less. Projects should have M&V plans. Projects that can only estimate the energy performance may still be considered subject to approvals. The Strategic Energy Management Plan (SEMP) Team reviews and approves/denies proposals. The team includes:

Director of Finance and Administration Shared Services
Associate Director of Facilities Services
Associate Director, Design and Construction
Manager, Energy Management Program
