A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
UO Human Resources provides onboarding resources that are available to all new employees, including encouragement to use direct deposit and paperless pay-stubs. They also provide a free public bus pass as an employee benefit and information about alternatives to single occupancy vehicles for transportation to campus.

HR hosts a New Employee Orientation workshop that is strongly encouraged for all employees. According to HR, "The New Employee Orientation is part of the New Employee Onboarding Program. This workshop focuses on policies, responsibilities and community standards. ... Topics include the university's structure and purpose, safety and data security, inclusion, and respectful workplace expectations. An Employee Resource Fair is also included in the workshop." The workshop fair allows new employees to talk to different departments of interest, which includes the Office of Sustainability. The orientation/fair planners do not give employees ready-made packets, a choice that reduces paper waste, and does give a reusable bag.
