A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the student body:
The UO's Multicultural Center serves as a safe and respectful environment that nurtures and supports interaction amoung undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and the community at-large. Its primary goal is to promote personal growth, leadership development, cultural social change, and the ending of human oppression by exploring topics such as gender, sexual orientation, class, identity, domestic and international issues with primary emphasis on race and ethnicity.

In addition, the UO's Office of Multicultural Acedemic Success (OMAS) provides a culturally supportive environment that empowers self-identified students of color to fulfill their educational and career goals. They do this through the following efforts:
1) Retention support that addresses the unique experiences of students of color on a predominantly white campus
2) Multiculturally-focused academic advising
3) Support for social networking and intercultural community building
4) Advocacy for students' interests and initiatives
5) Program support for scholarship recipients
6) Leadership development opportunities
7) Career and educational development
8) Student recognition and acknowledgement
9) Individual needs assessment and resource referral
10) Collaborative support for University student recruitment, retention, and community efforts

A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support under-represented groups within the faculty:
The UO's Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity offers a decentralized training structure for faculty and staff diversity.
In addition, the UO's Center on Diversity and Community (CoDaC) staff consists of a diverse team of research faculty, graduate students, and professionals with backgrounds in student affairs, mediation/conflict resolution and curriculum development.
CoDaC primarily serves faculty, academic units, and student affairs offices in higher education. It works with individual faculty to increase their capacity to work effectively with a diverse student body and it work with campus units (departments, colleges, and student affairs) to foster multicultural organizational development.
