In addition to the programs in PAE Credit 8, especially the Moreau Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, the University of Notre Dame offers the following fellowships to support under-represented graduate students:
o Clare Boothe Luce Fellowships for Women in Science and Engineering
•Full tuition
•Stipend of $25,000 to $30,000, according to program, on a 12-month basis for up to five years
•Full coverage of the University’s health insurance premium cost
o Fernández Fellowships for students from Puerto Rico
•Full tuition
•Stipend for doctoral students of $24,000-$30,000 according to the program, on a 12-month basis for up to five years
•Stipend for master’s students of $16,000 on a 12-month basis
•Full coverage of the University’s health insurance premium cost
o Deans’ Fellowships
•The fellowships are open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents in any division of the Graduate School who are first-generation, low-income college students and/or who are African American, Asian American, Hispanic, or Native American.
•Full tuition
•Stipend for incoming doctoral students of $24,000 on a 12-month basis for up to five years
•Stipend for master’s students of $12,500 on a 9-month basis
•Full coverage of the University’s health insurance premium cost
o The Erskine A. Peters Fellowship
•Enables outstanding African American doctoral candidates in the social sciences and humanities, at the ABD level, to devote their full energies to the completion of the dissertation and provides opportunities for African
American scholars to experience life at the University of Notre Dame, a major Catholic research institution.
•The University also provides each fellow with a home department, a faculty mentor in the fellow’s specialization area, office space with use of a personal computer, health insurance, and forum discussions on professional development.
•Stipend of $30,000 plus a $2,000 research budget.
o The Graduate School participates in consortia such as the Institute for Recruitment of Teachers (IRT), National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Science and Engineering (GEM), National Society of Black Engineers
(NSBE), Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science(SACNAS), and Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists (MAES), all of which promote graduate education for minorities. We are also strongly receptive to applicants from the nation’s McNair programs.
