Does the institution have programs in place to protect and/or create wildlife habitat on institution-owned land?:
Yes

A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:

Notre Dame uses animal-safe pesticides and we do not spray around the two lakes on campus. There are several designated Natural Areas around campus including wooded areas around both lakes and other wooded areas on the East side of campus. Bird houses attracting many species of birds are located throughout both golf courses and in parking lots to the North of campus. The Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame is designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Finally, the Snite Museum's Sculpture Park, located on the south end of campus adjacent to the Compton Ice Arena, features carefully selected indigenous trees, shrubs, and prairie grass. Due to its indigenous flora, the Sculpture Park requires no irrigation, fertilization, chemical spraying, or pruning.
