A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

A group of faculty has been formed to coordinate the effort of incorporating sustainability into the curriculum. A steering committee and the Provost selected the representatives after a competitive application process.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

One of the faculty members leading this initiative attended the "Sustainability and Curriculum: Workshop for Campus Leaders", presented by AASHE in San Diego on June 3-4, 2010. He has been one of three faculty members coordinating the overall effort of engaging faculty.


A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

UNI has provided financial support for travel and training to faculty for this program. Additionally, meeting space is provided for the group when needed and refreshments are provided to any faculty members that attend by the RRTTC.

Sustainability Action Committee - Working Groups

A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (2nd program):

Members of the Sustainability Action Committee were selected by President Allen. From the group's general membership, faculty and staff volunteered to participate in a number of different working groups that performed peer-to-peer sustainability outreach and education.


A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (2nd program):

Membership within the committee included faculty and staff that were either experts on concepts in sustainability or were interested in furthering the efforts of sustainability on campus. To increase the knowledge base of the entire groups, a number of presentations were made and reports generated for and by the various working groups.


A brief description of the financial or other support the institution provides to the program (2nd program):

UNI has designated Sustainability as a strategic priority for the University. The institution has provided both monetary and in-kind support for a number of initiatives on campus. These efforts have included things such as promotional items, to educational campaigns, and operational changes. Additionally UNI provides this group with resources and financial support on a variety of initiatives that they have spearheaded.
