A brief description of the student group, including its activities:
UNI has a number of student groups that focus on sustainability as a whole or components of sustainability. Examples of these groups include: Green Project UNI - The purpose of this organization is to provide a venue for the honest discussion of our collective lifestyles and work, through action, towards change for a more sustainable and green future. Their diverse membership includes students from all colleges. Student Nature Society - Members of SNS are interested in the outdoors, and in stewardship of our environment. Club service activities include strengthening recycling initiatives, environmental awareness, prairie burns, and participation in Earth Day activities. Social activities include camping and other outdoor activities, field trips to natural sites around the state, and the spring plant sale. UNI Green Life- A student based organization that aims at promoting organic/local food purchasing, promoting vegetarian/vegan lifestyles for increased personal health and a more sustainable system of food production, and informing the student body about issues surrounding the current agricultural system.
