Each year concepts in sustainability become much more prominent in new student orientation. Some of the ways that sustainability is included are:
-Sustainability on campus tours.
- Encouraging students to go "tray-free" in the dining center, and educating them on why this is important for the university
- Avoiding disposable dishes whenever possible
- Inviting UNI sustainability organizations to participate in the student organization fair all of the freshman orientation sessions
- Promoting recycling and the use of compostable dishes during our Panther Picnic during welcome week
