A brief description of the socially responsible investment policy:
The UNI Foundation has adopted the following policy: Motion that the Investment/Finance Committee understands the University of Northern Iowa is committed to the concept of sustainability. To this end, the UNI Foundation Investment/Finance Committee will consider utilizing fund managers with an investment strategy seeking companies with a corporate sustainability business approach. A sustainable business approach could be defined as a strategy to integrate long-term economic, environmental and social aspects in their business strategies. The Committee's central priority when considering fund managers will be to enhance the performance and consider the risk to the Foundation's portfolios. It directs the Investment Consultant to, when possible, identify investment managers with a commitment to investing in sustainable companies in appropriate asset classes and to measure their performance against other managers who invest strictly based on anticipated performance. The Committee will then make the determination which manager will best serve the needs of the Foundation and the University. Motion carried.
