A brief description of the assessment(s):
A series of key performance indicators (KPIs) have been developed by the Diversity Council with advice from the Diversity Advisory Committee and the College Diversity Councils, and with the concurrence of the President’s Cabinet. Key performance indicators are measurements that help the University community understand and evaluate how well we are doing in achieving important goals. Each is a statistic that is intended to provide an indicator, not a thorough understanding. KPIs related to diversity are reported annually to the University community. At UNI the KPIs related to diversity include: 1. Enhance the diversity of the student body o Rate of enrollment of racial/ethnic minority students as a percentage of overall enrollment o Rate of enrollment of international students as a percentage of overall enrollment o Rate of enrollment of gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender students as a percentage of overall respondents o Rate of enrollment of students with disabilities as a percentage of overall enrollment o Enrollment rates by gender and race & ethnicity in STEM fields 3. A brief description of how the results of the assessment(s) are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:
Data on KPIs are reported annually to University Community at a Town Hall style meeting. The 2011 town hall meeting is scheduled for January 20, 2011. All UNI community members are invited to help UNI reach its vision of a campus where diversity enriches every aspect of campus life. The information gathered through the KPI assessment is used by Diversity Council and Diversity Committee for strategic planning.
