Steps for surplus of computers:
# Cleanse the Computer Hard Drive
# Complete the “Data Cleansed Certification” sticker and place on the computer(Stickers can be obtained from Campus Supply)
# Complete the following forms:

1. Equipment Inventory Deletions Report (PDF)
2. Transit/Surplus Form (PDF) Transit/Surplus Form (Excel)
3. Mail completed reports to:Office of Business Operations

# Business Operations will arrange for Transportation to pick-up the equipment, will prepare for an onsite tag sale, or will reassign the equipment on campus.
# Transportation picks-up equipment going to auction.


A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for institution-generated materials:

Electronic waste is sent through the divisional IT department to the Administration and Finance IT department to determine the quality and projected life left in the equipment. If the equipment can be reused it is within various University units. If not, it is set to University surplus after the hard drives have been removed, where they are sold at auction.


A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for student-generated materials :

UNI has a partnership with the Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa to accept electronic waste generated by students. This is through their Dell Reconnect program.
