A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
UNI is meeting requirements by the State of Iowa and Iowa Board of Regents to pursue LEED Silver design standards on all new buildings and major renovation projects. Prior to implementing this policy, UNI also followed LEED design practices including: efficient HVAC, Low flow fixtures, energy efficient lighting, reused existing materials where practical, etc. All buildings within the last three years were designed to meet the energy code.
