A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
The UNBC First Nations Centre offers a resource library of First Nations works and also hosts regular events steeped in aboriginal culture and tradition. The Visiting Elders Program as well as weekly Talking Circles offers a tangible link to First Nations tradition, identity and history. Furthermore, the Centre regularly holds different workshops, such as moccasin-making, button blankets and drum-making. Regular potlucks present the opportunity for socializing and friendship amidst a variety of traditional and contemporary foods.
