A brief description of steps taken to ensure that e-waste is recycled responsibly, workers’ basic safety is protected, and environmental standards are met:
UNT is committed to practicing responsible recycling methods. Currently, the university's e-waste recycling initiatives keep items in local and regional markets. Items are recycled in accordance with all state and federal regulations.

A brief description of the electronic waste recycling program for institution-generated materials:
UNT Surplus is responsible for collecting institution-generated electronic waste. Computers are sent to the Texas Criminal Justice System to be reused. All other electronic waste is refurbished and sold to the public. Broken items are taken apart, and the individual parts are recycled.

There are bins located in many buildings throughout campus in which members of the UNT community can recycle ink cartridges, batteries, and cell phones.
