A brief description of the pre-consumer food waste composting program:
By going trayless the university has found that pre-consumer food waste has decreased by 41% at the plate. UNT has educational signage for cafeteria guests that encourage them to take what they can eat and come back often. UNT dining halls are all-you-care-to-eat and dining services controls plate waste by offering smaller portions and more variety.
