A brief description of the program or practice:
Xeriscaping has decreased water usage for irrigation by over 40% since 2005 where most of the water used now for irrigation is reclaimed or surface (lake or pond) water. The practice of landscaping with drought tolerant plants has increased drastically on UNF's campus due to a new, computerized pump and irrigation control system. Plants for landscaping are specifically chosen for their ability to thrive with low levels of irrigation, fertilizers, and pesticides.
