UNCW conducts teaching, research and all other operations in compliance with applicable standards, codes, regulations, and laws. Safety and environmental protection are a daily part of every person’s responsibilities. A more extensive description can be found in the attachment below.

A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :
All work-related injuries or illnesses are reported immediately to an employee's supervisor. It is then the responsibility of the supervisor to report that injury to Human Resources and Environmental Health & Safety within 24 hours. A form is used to classify work-related injuries and illnesses and to note the extent and severity of each case. When an incident occurs this log is used to record specific details about what happened and how it happened. A separate log is kept for each individual establishment or site.
