Percentage of existing building space certified under a green building rating system rating system focused on the operations and maintenance of existing buildings:
A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:
All building space is managed with energy and water efficiency in mind. We have a revolving energy efficiency fund called 1292 monies. This fund, established by the North Carolina legislature, allows for investment in energy-efficient upgrades. A percentage of those costs are allocated to a fund for next year's projects.
All buildings utilize green-certified cleaning products, and most paper products in buildings are certified green with recycled content.
Our campus also observes summer hours from mid-May to mid-August. All staff and faculty work a compressed schedule during the week and leave at 1130am on Fridays. This allows all our buildings to shift HVAC priorities to a warmer temp to save on energy usage and costs to the institution.
