A brief description of the institution’s green athletics program:

The UNCW Boseman Softball Field installed an artifical grass playing surface in 2018. The artifical turf reduces the upkeep and resources needed to maintain a traditional grass field. Additionally, The UNCW Brooks Baseball Field has an improvement project set to begin in May 2024. The project aims to renovate the existing playing surface to meet NCAA standards while replacing the natural sod field with an artificial turf field to decrease maintenance and increase playability. This project is expected to conclude in January 2025.
