As a public university in a multi-campus state system of higher education, UNCW’s policy agenda is determined by the UNC Board of Governors. Previous UNC policy agendas and budget requests have included numerous policies, programs, and projects to promote campus sustainability and sustainability more generally. UNCW has advocated on behalf of those initiatives along with the other UNC constituent institutions.

An example would be advocacy for authority to enter into energy performance contracting, which was a university-wide and successful effort. Once authority was obtained, UNCW entered into a very successful performance energy contract and is now entering into a second and larger contract
