Yes
A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:
The Inclusion and Diversity Council, in conjunction with the Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity, conducted an online campus climate survey in the spring of 2023. Administered using Qualtrics, the anonymous survey gauged the perceptions of students, faculty and staff on UNC Pembroke’s climate and how the institution supports diversity, equity and inclusion.
The survey included questions assessing the participants’ 1.) UNCP experience, 2.) interactions with others, 3.) perception of diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, 4.) perception of the campus climate, 5.) experience with people and courses that influenced their thinking regarding diversity and inclusion, 6.) experience with discrimination and harassment, and 7.) demographics. The survey concluded with some 8.) open ended questions asking how UNCP can support and improve inclusion, equity, and diversity.
Data collected from the Campus Climate Survey will be used to develop student-centered programming for UNC Pembroke’s diverse communities, improve policies and practices that increase students’ awareness of campus diversity, sense of belonging, identity development and intercultural competencies and contribute to building a more inclusive campus community. Data will also be used to establish a baseline for measuring the attitudes of students, faculty and staff on the inclusivity of the campus climate.
