Does the institution have one or more Level 2 or Level 3 electric vehicle recharging stations that are accessible to student and employee commuters?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the electric vehicle recharging stations:
Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) Charging on Campus
Anyone on campus who drives a PEV is welcomed to recharge it, for FREE, at either one of the ten electric vehicle charging stations (EVSE) on campus located in Lot 17 (visitor lot, anyone can use these chargers) in front of the Dial Humanities Building and Lumbee Hall; Lot 14 (general parking lot, students, faculty and staff can use) at the Jones Health and Physical Education Building, at the football stadium, or in Lot 6 (faculty and staff lot, only) behind Moore Hall. Campus Parking Map, link. As the demand on campus increases for more stations, plans are to install more to meet the need. On June 23, 2014 UNCP became the first college in North Carolina to become a Partner in DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge! The Workplace Charging Challenge is a collaborative effort to increase the number of U.S. employers offering workplace charging by tenfold in the next five years. For more information about the Challenge, see DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge website. A two kW solar photovoltaic (PV) array was installed to offset the energy consumed by the 2 EVSE at Lot 17, creating a carbon net-zero application! A one kW solar PV array was installed at each of the single chargers in lot 6 & 14, as well.
