Weigh the Waste
A brief description of the campaign:
A campaign that consists of an event each semester where all faculty, staff, and students eating in the main dining hall bring their food scraps to the dish return where we collect and weigh the food waste in front of them while also educating them on food waste and trash data from the U.S. each year. The campus body responds very well each time by trying to keep their personal food waste to a minimum in the dining hall and has reduced their average waste per person throughout the semesters.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Over 300 attendees participated in the event, including faculty, staff, and students. More than 50% of them take the time to ask questions or look over the data related to food waste. From semester to semester, food waste has been reduced.

Earth Day Fair
A brief description of the campaign (2nd campaign):
In celebration of Earth Day, UNCP holds an Earth Day Fair in which we promote student organizations that promote sustainability and the environment, the UNCP Sustainability Office, as well as Community and Civic Engagement. Each participant in the fair educated the students in an interactive way on either an issue related to sustainability or an environmental impact. This year Earth Day was close to Final Exams so the celebration also took place on a Friday, however, we still had a turnout of over 100 attendees.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign (2nd campaign):
Many students, faculty, and staff who participated expressed their surprise at what materials can and cannot be recycled and came to the realization they had been recycling incorrectly. Each attendee also participated in a survey to determine the level of understanding relative to sustainability for the campus body.
