A brief description of the institution’s program to support employee volunteering:
Student information was provided by the Office of Leadership and Engagement which reported 645 students participate in community service via their programs for a total of 5,304 hours. We also received data from Institutional Research which showed 919 students enrolled in a course with an Academic Service Learning Outcome, and from Campus Activities and Programs which oversees student clubs, as clubs typically contribute service - they reported 6,823 students in at least one club. Because there is no central data collection to determine all service hours, we used the average of 8.22 hours per student in OLCE programs to determine total hours for FY21.
In recognition of the State’s interests in supporting its employees who wish to volunteer in schools, communities, institutions of higher education, State agencies, and not-for- profit organizations, and recognizing the commitment of State employees to engage in volunteer service, Community Service Leave, ... may be granted to any employee for volunteer activity provided that the service is outside of the employee’s normal scope of duties and responsibilities and that the employee is not receiving any form of compensation for the services rendered. The twenty-four hours (24) of paid leave shall be credited to each employee on January 1 of each year, unless the employee chooses one of the special provision options for volunteering in a literacy program or tutoring/mentoring.
Payroll Services provided data on employee leave based on their records tracking the above mentioned program.
