A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability:
The NCA Center for Communication, Community Collaboration, and Change (CCCC) seeks to facilitate partnerships with community-based organizations that create sustainable change for underrepresented and/or vulnerable communities through the production and application of communication-related scholarship and practice that lead to measurable outcomes for its community partners. The CCCC believes that when the best of communication praxis is coupled with community-based social justice efforts, communities tend to benefit.
The CCCC supports its mission through a micro-grants funding program that supports community-based projects with potential for significant community impact. These projects must involve close partnerships among university partners, community partners, and organizations serving those communities (when relevant).

The Center for Community-Engaged Design is an interdisciplinary research center that fosters community/university partnerships for meaningful research and design of the built and natural environments. Housed in the Department of Interior Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, CC-ED collaborates with community partners, non-profit organizations, and municipal departments to address design-related projects in underserved areas and for underrepresented populations in the Piedmont-Triad area. Through community-engaged processes of research, service, visioning, teaching, and learning, CC-ED brings innovative design thinking and methodologies to bear in areas where resources are most limited.

The Center for Housing and Community Studies (CHCS) is a university-based research, evaluation, and technical assistance center. We provide technical assistance to governmental and nonprofit agencies as well as the preparation of working papers, research notes, and scholarly publications. We are actively engaged in funded studies of impediments to fair housing, continuum of care for the homeless, housing market trends and market segmentation studies, community indicators projects, asset mapping, county and regional community planning, and studies of the impact of housing on health.
