A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :
The Energy 101 program educates interested faculty and staff about energy issues, including campus energy sources, efforts to reduce energy consumption through operations, and strategies employees can use to reduce their consumption of energy to decrease UNCG's carbon footprint and costs.
The UNCG Green Office Certification program (http://uncggreenoffice.wordpress.com/) also educates faculty and staff about how to reduce the resources used in their work environments, with specific attention on employees who work in offices. Areas that the program focuses on include
* Energy and water consumption
* Recycling and waste reduction
* Kitchen and break room practices
* Alternative transportation
* Meetings and event planning
The UNCG Green Team program is geared toward staff who work in trade areas and are rarely in offices. These include HVAC shops, plumbing, grounds, etc. Day-to-day habits and sustainable best practices for their respective trades are discussed, and each group decides collectively on a green initiative to implement that relates to their specific areas.
