A brief description of the program:
The Environmental Health and Safety Office created the Orphan Chemical Program in 1998. This is a reuse program through which faculty can request chemicals from the Office of Safety for use at no cost. This program has minimized stock of the most hazardous chemicals while maintaining adequate stock of those that are most often requested. Typically, chemicals remain in the program for three
years before being properly disposed of if unused.
