Does the institution host a peer-to-peer textbook exchange program, textbook lending library, or alternate textbook project?:
Yes
A brief description of the textbook exchange program, textbook lending library, or alternate textbook project:
The UNC Charlotte library encourages faculty to switch their paid textbook to free options either Open Education Resource (OER) or using library materials. The E-Textbook Database allows faculty to request ebooks the library owns or could purchase to use for their classes. Librarians review the textbook list from the bookstore and purchase titles available as ebooks for the library to make them available to students for free. They assist faculty in choosing an OER for their classes. Librarians advocate for the use of OER or library resources as textbooks at the university and state level, including being a member of the Open Textbook Network.
Does the institution provide incentives for academic staff that explicitly encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks?:
