A brief description of the institution’s green athletics program:

The football stadium was declared a zero waste facility by the Student Government Association before construction. Facilities Management, Athletics, and Chartwells coordinate to optimize waste diversion to recycling or composting. A 70% diversion rate was achieved for the 2022 football season. The Judy W. Rose Football Center earned a LEED Certified rating for New Construction. Individuals who purchase tickets for football games are informed of the light rail options with two stations convenient to Richardson Stadium. The campus bus transit routes and schedules are modified on football game days to provide shuttle services from campus entry points. UNC Charlotte is a member of the Green Sports Alliance.
