A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :
Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) has summer sessions for first-year students and transfer students, as well as sessions in December for mid-year transfer students. At these sessions, the Sustainability Office provides information about recycling, alternative transportation, events, sustainability-oriented student organizations, the Charlotte Green Initiative (student green fund), and the overarching sustainability goals of the university. Graduate Student orientation does not have a sustainability component.
