A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR) has summer sessions for first-year students and transfer students. The Recycling Office has traditionally been part of SOAR, and in 2015 the Sustainability Office assumed that opportunity to deliver a broader message about campus sustainability. Students recieve information about recycling, alternative transportation, events, student organizations, and the Charlotte Green Initiative (student green fund opportunities). For 2015 we estimate that 90 students take the sustainability offering in each of the 17 SOAR Sessions (1530 students out of 6200 total).
