The Sustainability Literacy Assessment was developed by the Sustainability Office and the Sustainability Advisory Committee

The online sustainability literacy assessment was administered as a qualtrics survey to 270 students studying Global Environment, Environment and Society, Sustainable Business and Social Entrepreneurship, Environmental Planning, Concepts of Marketing, and Environmental Politics.
The faculty teaching these courses asked their students to take the assessment at the beginning of the spring 2017 semester and again at the end of the semester.
A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s), including a description of any measurable changes over time:
85% of students make an effort to learn about environmental and sustainability issues and 51% want to learn more. They think it's important to engage in a range of sustainable behaviors. 96% understood carbon footprint, 89% triple bottom line, 89% identified renewable resources, 68% understood life-cycle assessment, 36% know how electricity is generated in NC.
