Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, provides University-wide leadership in developing and implementing initiatives that promote diversity within our student, faculty, and staff communities. Diversity and Multicultural Affairs provides leadership, consultation, and project management of policies, programs, and services that promote diversity as a means of achieving educational excellence and enhancing the quality of life for all members of the University community. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill understands that diversity is a critical element of Carolina’s pursuit of academic excellence, and has a strong commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive community.

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:
The Associate Provost and Director of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs serves as the chief diversity officer for the University, and advises the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Chancellor on diversity policies and issues. She collaborates with senior University officers and campus units to identify and implement strategies and initiatives to increase diversity, and to build an inclusive environment that values and respects the contributions of all members of the University community.
