Yes

A brief description of the program:
UNC Chapel Hill is working collaboratively with Orange County to capture the methane in the Orange County landfill and convert it to electrical energy. UNC will gain carbon credits for capturing this methane, which is many times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.
The installation of a methane gas collection and flaring system began in November 2010 and will be operational in July 2011. In the second phase, UNC will pipe the landfill gas to a generator for producing electricity to power its complex of buildings along Airport Drive. The 1,000-kilowatt power generating system is expected to be operational in early 2012.
