A brief description of the campaign(s):
To stimulate water conservation during the 2007 drought, the Chancellor at N.C. State University challenged the Chancellor at UNC Chapel Hill to see whose students could save the most water between the schools' football game in November and the basketball matchup in February.
Three criteria were considered for this competition: the largest decrease in gallons of water used per student per day, average number of gallons of water used per student per day, and the total percentage reduction in gallons of water used per student per day. The event garnered considerable publicity in the Triangle area.

Students at UNC trimmed their daily water use by 8 gallons, or 24%, during the challenge.
