Allingtown Community Cleanup
A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:
As part of Earth Day, the University of New Haven chapter of the NAACP and the Office of Community Service, in conjunction with the Office of the Mayor, hosts an annual cleanup for the Allingtown area of West Haven, CT. The initiative “cleans up” the neighborhood center and the Green. In 2018, 150 students and faculty members from both the University of New Haven and adjacent Notre Dame High School were involved in this event.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
Volunteers cleaned 10 streets and collected a total of 150 bags of trash. The efforts improved the appearance around residential and school zones. The event served the dual purpose of cleaning up the local community, while simultaneously building strong relationships with the University of New Haven’s surrounding neighborhood.
