To achieve our goal of ethical production of our trademarked goods, UNHInnovation (UNHI) partners with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) https://clc.com/, the most well-regarded collegiate licensing program in the United States. Through the partnership with CLC, UNHI monitors all of the companies that produce goods with the UNH brand for compliance. To become a vendor partner with UNH, a company must agree (through a legally binding agreement) to use UNH’s brand correctly and uphold the university’s values, which include giving back to the community and a commitment to a sustainable workforce. All departments, groups, clubs, or other members of the UNH community that would like to produce UNH-branded goods are required to work with these vendor partners to ensure that UNH dollars are spent strictly on ethically produced branded goods. To date, UNH has nearly 150 vendor partners who produce a wide variety of goods for the UNH community and for the public at retail. To see all of UNH’s vendor partners, visit, https://clc.com/license-search/ and choose “University of New Hampshire” in the second drop-down.

Through our partnership with CLC, UNHI tracks our vendor partners’ participation in two mandatory commitments toward a sustainable workforce. The first is required membership in the Fair Labor Association (FLA), of which UNH is a member, as noted above; ditto the Workers’ Rights Consortium (WRC).

In addition, UNH is itself a current (2024) member of both the FLA and WRCFor more information about our commitment to sustainability in our trademarking practices, see https://www.unh.edu/sustainability/blog/2021/07/following-thread-sustainability-unh-goods
