UNHSI staff and student interns cull through Sponsored Research Administration and Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research reports. In addition, faculty are surveyed online about their research, and the results are combined with/used to verify what UNHSI has found.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Our "Total number of academic departments (or the equivalent) that include at least one faculty or staff member that conducts research " includes not only the 63 academic departments that conduct research within our seven colleges, but also an additional 60 Centers, Institutes and other organizational entities at UNH that also conduct research--many as their primary function. (See the Excel file attached in the "Additional Documentation" field above for a full list.) These Centers, Institutes and other entities generate a substantive amount of knowledge and information, and represent a significant investment by and contribution of the University, as a land-, sea-, and space- grant institution, to the state of NH, the nation and the world. As such, we thought it imperative to include them in our research inventory.
