If sustainability professional development and training opportunities for staff are made available or supported, provide at least one of the following:
UNH offers various sustainability themed professional development/ training opportunities throughout the year. Some of the program offerings include Social Justice Educator training and online sustainability modules that are open to all staff members. Staff also have the opportunity to participate in the Green Office Program, in which they receive training and a sustainability certification for their office.
As a result of the campus-wide engagement over 2016 and 2017, including a campus-wide survey, we developed and launched a Sustainability professional development training module. UNH staff and faculty indicated confusion over what is sustainability, how UNH practices sustainability, and how they can be engaged in sustainability work through the survey. The first training module facilitates a universal understanding of what sustainability means, how UNH practices sustainability, and how employees can be engaged in sustainability. This module will be one in a series of modules to increase knowledge and skills around sustainability for employees.
