A brief description of how the institution (or its foundation) has engaged in shareholder advocacy that promotes sustainability during the previous 3 years. :
The UNH Foundation Board of Directors does not have the ability to vote proxies. In early 2008, the UNH Foundation Board sent a letter to all investment managers used by the university stating that UNH has deep concerns over the atrocities occurring in the Darfur region of Sudan and requested that UNH investment funds not be directed to any company that directly or indirectly supports Sudan. The letter included a UNH student body suggestion that the investment firms use www.SudanDivestment.org as a guide for selecting companies in which to invest (http://www.seacoastonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080218/NEWS/802180325/-1/ PUBLICRECORDS05). UNH and the UNH Foundation continually explore investments in areas like renewable energy and community development in partnership with the UNHF Board of Directors, UNHF’s fund managers, and the University Office of Sustainability.
