A brief description of how the employee educators are selected (1st program):

UNH Sustainability Stewards is a voluntary program which all employees are eligible to apply for. UNH Sustainability Stewards are faculty and staff working together to bring sustainability – a core part of UNH’s identity and mission – to the grassroots level in their buildings and departments.

A brief description of the formal training that the employee educators receive (1st program):

UNH Sustainability Stewards participants, and their departments, benefit from close communication from the UNH University Office of Sustainability, UNH’s campus-wide task forces like the Energy Task Force (ETF) and offices and departments like the UNH Energy Office as appropriate. Stewards also receive knowledge and information on best practices, policies and issues surrounding sustainability on campus. Participants attend monthly steward meetings, where speakers on campus sustainability issues share best practices and up-to-the-minute data.

A brief description of the staff and/or other financial support the institution provides to the program (1st program):

The program is facilitated by the UNH Sustainability Academy and its staff. All UNH Sustainability Stewards are expected to dedicate up to three hours of work time per month toward UNH Sustainability Stewards activities. When an application is received from individuals wishing to become Sustainability Stewards, supervisors will be contacted to confirm that use of work time is allowed.
