A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:

UNH includes Sustainability in new student orientation activities by way of sending out a Sustainable YOUNH pamphlet and email at the beginning of the year. At freshman orientation UNH is invited to set up a table for sustainability and a representative from the UNH Office of Sustainability is also invited to speak with new students about how they can live a more sustainable life on campus.

A representative from the UNH University Office of Sustainability visits with new and existing Dormitory Resident Assistants and Hall Directors in order to engage them in sustainability news and events. The representative from the Office will also give a presentation about sustainability at the Resident Assistants resource fair, remind them to inform their students about the Best Buy 10% discount on Energy Star appliances for UNH students an parents, and to visit the model dorm room (Energy Star Showcase Room) in Congreve Hall.

The UNH University Office of Sustainability & and the UNH Housing Office in partnership with the local Best Buy encourage students to purchase energy efficient appliances by providing 10% off on all ENERGY STAR appliances.

During student orientation the UNH University Office of Sustainability along with UNH commuter services, University Transportation Services, and many others give information and answers any questions related to commuting to the UNH campus, including flyers with information and information that is mailed out in the community guide. Commuter Services provides information about sustainable transportation habits to commuters via Commuter Student Appreciation Day at the beginning of the fall semester. UOS also offers information at tabling events for commuter students and for graduate students.
