The assessment is performed every spring by selecting five locations around campus that are believed to be the best locations to garner a large sample size as well as a diverse sample that can best represent the campus as a whole. Three questions are asked based on the initiatives that are being performed by UNB Sustainability. The questions being what strengths and weaknesses UNB Sustainability has as well as where they can improve. These are open answered questions so that campus users can give their opinion without being influenced by biases. The raw data is then placed into categories to identify what direction campus users would like to see UNB Sustainability develop in the future

Five separate locations were used to attempt to gather a representative sample of the entire campus. The locations were the Harriet Irving Library, the Student Union Building, Forestry & Geology, McConnell Dining Hall and the Science Library.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
Results have varied throughout the years but the primary areas of interest on the UNB Fredericton campus have been waste management and energy. This data has been used to help educate sustainability initiatives at UNBF including details of the Climate Change Action Plan.
