The Central Heating Plant is a cogeneration steam energy plant which has helped UNB lower their GHG emissions since its conversion in (year?). This impact was accounted for within different STARS credits however, what makes this an innovation is that the plant also produces steam for heating the Saint Thomas University campus as well as the Research and Productivity Council, the Provincial Archives and Provincial Soils Labs buildings and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital which are all located near the campus
