The Campus Food Strategy Group - Food nourishes individuals and brings together communities. Food affects our relationships, environments, health, cultures, economies, and sense of selves. Simply put, food connects us all. The Campus Food Strategy Group at the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University is a part of larger national network of group promoting local and sustainable food systems on university cam...puses. By working with 9 other university campuses across Canada, we’re creating resources, models and a larger network of support for building sustainable food systems.

Campus Farmer's Market - A Fall Farmers market pilot began on October 5, 2016 at UNB Fredericton. Produce is provided by the Ville Cooperative in Marysville, Fredericton, which grows its food using organic practices and is located less than ten kilometers from the UNB Fredericton campus. The produce was sold at UNB for a reduced rate to make the produce friendly for a student budget.

Climate Change Action Engagement Sessions - These sessions were held to gather information that will help to feed into the development of a Climate Change Action Plan for UNB. Students, staff and community members were invited to attend to hear presentations on topics associated with climate change and to identify areas that are likely to have the greatest impact on UNB and the province as a whole

The Heavy Metal exhibit, currently on display at the University of New Brunswick’s Art Centre and featuring UNB’s ArtZone, is part of an environmental awareness project in support of World Water Day, which is being recognized this Sunday, Mar. 22. The exhibit was created to help bring awareness to the issue of e-waste in our landfills, which is having a growing negative impact on the environment, specifically in our waterways.

In partnership with Second Nature Outdoors, Urec offers free kayaking and paddle boarding in the Saint John River for members every Tuesday and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.

UNB’s co-curricular program has a theme focusing on Global and Cultural Awareness including requirements for students to complete a personal carbon footprint calculation, grow a garden, and complete an environmentally related course among many others.
