Some accomplishments include: - Adding over 50 hydration stations to campus and helping maintain an outreach program about reducing and refilling -Using water monsters at big events -Implementing Zero Waste events for large and medium sized campus events -Recycling at all events held at the football stadium including Monster Truck, Motorcross, Supercross, International Rugby and other non-university related events. - Building a campus community garden - Co-creating a Green Event Certification Program - Adding ten PV arrays to campus roofs - Converting more turf to xeriscaping to conserve water - Changing outdoor lighting to LEDs and increasing the number of motion sensors in offices - Providing the following recycling services: -Scheduled weekly pick-up of materials from the Main Campus and off-site locations (approximately 500 recycling stations) -Special Pick-ups -Office Clean-out Bins -Shredding of Confidential Documents -Special Event Recycling (when requested) -Providing a Drive Up and Drop Off (DUDO) program for people living in apartments and condos. A brief description of each sustainability officer position:
Tara Pike's position deals with managing the entire universities recycling, composting, and waste. She also manages 5 interns that work on community garden, STARS rating system, plastic reduction, hydration stations, and green certification of student organizational events. Her position is in charge of student outreach and education as well as solid waste management, hydration station proliferation and the campus community garden.
