A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
The Plastic Bottle Trade In Program was created because of one of the recommendations from the UNLV Reduction Plan of Plastic Bottle Usage. Primarily, this event has an individual trade 10 plastic water bottles to receive a free new reusable stainless steel water bottle. Not only does this event encourage the user to adopt a more sustainable habit, but it also gives an individual the opportunity to understand why a reusable water bottle is a good choice. Since this event deals with beverages, UNLV Dining has organized various Plastic Bottle Trade In Events with other campus organizations to make the event successful each time. UNLV Dining has organized this event with UNLV Take Back the Tap and UNLV Housing & Residential Life. Since the spring there have been up to 3 Plastic Bottle Trade In events each semester.
