Utilizing a data analytics software called Tableau, UNL’s Informatics team uploaded all university course listings from the University Registrar’s office. Utilizing this tool, a search of sustainability related keywords was performed to generate a sorted list for review. A manual review of this list was then completed, sorting courses as Sustainability Focused, Sustainability Inclusive, or excluded if there was no indicator of sustainability subject matter. A final manual review of courses was completed comparing results from previous years and cross-checking for courses that may have been sorted incorrectly.

The list of all courses offered by UNL in the year 2021 was uploaded to Tableau via the Registrar’s Office. A subset of sustainability courses was created through a keyword search.
After the subset of sustainability courses were created, a manual review filtered every course in order to meet STARS 2.2 criteria on sustainability focused and sustainability inclusive. Each course was only counted once, regardless of number of sections offered.
