A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

The GHG Emissions baseline is based on the 2017 emissions report. The baseline was adopted to track the progress of the University's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint.
We have seen an increase in Scope 1 emissions from the baseline year due to an increase in natural gas usage. There was, however, a significant decrease in Scope 2 emissions because of the change in the resource mix of purchased electricity(a large part is coming from hydro).
