A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
Starting with the course listings from each college, we used a list of sustainability-related keywords to search for sustainability courses. Next we deleted courses that were not actually related to sustainability, and courses that are cross-listed with other departments. Finally we separated the courses based off whether they are sustainability courses, or courses that include a sustainability component.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
A brief description of how courses with multiple offerings or sections were counted:
The Master List of all courses offered by UNL in the year 2019 was received from the registrar's office. We created a subset of sustainability courses through a keyword search. These keywords are mentioned in the attached document.
After the subset of sustainability courses were created, we manually filtered every course in order to meet STARS 2.2 criteria on sustainability focused and sustainability inclusive.
If a course had different sections, every section was counted towards the total number of sustainability courses offered as per STARS 2.2 guidelines.Similarly, if a course was offered in multiple semesters of the year (Spring 2019, Fall 2019 and Summer 2019), those were also individually counted towards the total number of sustainability courses.
